Summed up in two pictures
In warranty
out of warranty (the little orange icon is indicating there is something wrong with a light)
9 miles later....

Ohhh, I thought you were saying that owning a Volkswagen was like having tuberculosis in the 1930's.

I have a single LED from the ECU that tells me the coolant is low. I call its bluff and turn the engine off in motion, start back up. No blink. Because the now-warm engine coolant expanded to the point of sensors. See, computer, it's just a little low. You keep blinking at me but you never check again..
TL/DR: Fix issues and clear codes. Be CELfless.

I don't think anyone else got your joke, but I certainly did. Bravo.

I know this light... every damn time it rained, without fail. Then it would go away after it dried out for a day or two (and that was the least annoying of the constant issues).
I absolutely hated that VW by the time I traded it in.

I maintain that once the warranty period expires, all VW error lights should automatically convert to dollar signs.

my R is almost 10,000 miles out of warranty and zero warning lights.

Heh, that's a familiar-looking dashboard. My Mk2 Scirocco has a warning light that tells you that the emissions system needs service. It gets triggered by a little box on the speedometer cable that switches it on every 30,000 miles, until you press a little button. Classy.

Slightly alarming. My wife and I just bought a Mk6 Golf at that exact mileage...
